Anonymous asked: hmm as a musician I feel that Patrick does justice to his music unlike other skaters. Maybe I just like artistry of it more. Daisuke is a great performer as well and I seem to look past the skating because Im simply engulfed by the performance
i feel you!
justaddsoysauce asked: how do you feels bout patrick chan? tbh, i just can't get into his skating, but i can kinda see how ppl like him. his edges are nice and i do like little things bout him but idk i just dun feel him ya know? AND THIS IS IMPORTANT. HAVE YOU SEEN DAI-CHAN SKATE TO SWEAT ADKJFAKLJFSKFJS
honestly, i don’t find his skating all that exciting. like, i will watch him and be like, “yes, this is very good skating!” because his skating is top-notch! but his interpretation & performance have always been pretty flat for me, with a few exceptions.
but, after this last quad, he’s been such a fixture that i’ve become endeared to him. like, he and his scores have been the source of a lot of bullshit, but it’s bullshit that has characterized the only four years that i’ve watched skating, so now his patrickness is familiar & kinda loveable even. especially now that it seems like the era of chanflation is due to end.
i do hope he continues to compete, because i think now that he has the freedom of not being canada’s one great hope (assuming that by pyeongchang ngyuen will have taken over) he could very possibly grow as an artist in a way that he didn’t before. in the past, all his attempts to vamp and revamp his artistry felt kinda forced. i think skaters are the most fun to watch when they just skate the way they want, and i hope, if he continues, he’ll have that mindset.
also, I FORGOT ABOUT SWEAT! THANK YOU!
I love these two my life blood.
